FIZE Medical at the SCCM 2026- Minute-by-minute Measurement of Furosemide Urine Response Predicts RRT and 30-day Mortality in ICU Patients

At the 2026 Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Congress, FIZE Medical presented new clinical data demonstrating the value of high-resolution urine output monitoring in critically ill patients.

The study, “Minute-by-minute Measurement of Furosemide Urine Response Predicts RRT and 30-day Mortality in ICU Patients,” highlights the potential of urine output—when measured continuously—to provide early insight into patient status.

The data demonstrates that continuous, high-resolution digital urine output monitoring can transform the Furosemide Stress Test from a 2-hour protocol into a 15-minute bedside assessment. Using the FIZE kUO®* platform in a retrospective analysis of 316 ICU patients, urine output measured within 15 minutes of a furosemide bolus predicts both the need for renal replacement therapy (AUC 0.93) and 30-day mortality (AUC 0.75),  matching  the accuracy of the traditional 2-hour standard.
