Director of Multidisciplinary R&D
As Director of Multidisciplinary R&D , you will oversee the development and deployment of several medical device products, both in the mature phase (clinical use) and in the early stage (ideation). The job requires background in the medical device industry, and an in-depth understanding of hardware, algorithms, and mechanics. It’s a unique opportunity for someone who has a passion for doing something meaningful (saving lives), with ambition to design innovative technological solutions, and is great with people. You’ll report to our VP of R&D and Clinical Affairs.
Responsibilities:
- Be the direct manager of the engineers on the team. Responsible for people’s professional and personal growth & well-being.
- Ensure compliance with medical device regulatory requirements of design, development, and V&V.
- Be responsible for the products’ full life-cycle: transfer from R&D to production, in-house production support, and implementation in hospitals.
- Lead the development of new products, from ideation through POC to final delivery.
- Be responsible for the overall design, development, architecture, and production environment deployment.
- Analyse and resolve technical debt, instilling a quality-focused mindset within the team.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks, balancing speed with stability and reliability.
Job Requirements :
- An experienced team leader (3+ years managing people) with a hands-on approach.
- B.Sc. in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- Medical device industry experience.
- Fluent in English, with strong technical writing skills.
- People’s person who truly cares about the people you work with.
- Ability to carry requirements from early phase to full implementation.
- Strong analytical skills, and ability to understand nonstandard problems and find innovative solutions.
- Experience in managing highly skilled developers, and the ability to lead, coach, guide, and influence them.
- Ability to manage, track, and identify risks, bottlenecks, and challenges ahead of time, and oversee technical coordination to resolve them.
- Love for learning new things, desire to make an impact and value for patients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an early-stage startup company and more mature ones.
- Academic research (MS/PhD).
